Piece of String. 2014

Myself and Frankie Thompson have started our own company Piece of String. Piece of String is a choreographic collaboration between two dance artists who through individual creative pathways are coming together to create a rich and embodied style of work. We aim to push the boundaries of our own stylistic preference through a partnership that compliments and contradicts. We recently made our first public performance at the London Bridge Live Arts Festival on 25th and 26th September with our new work Still Image. The piece drew from unalterable moments captured on polaroid film around the London Bridge Area.

On 16.10.14 we performed a 10minute excerpt of Still Image at a fundraiser for Awareness Through Dance. Footage can be found on my page ‘The Video Room’

The Royals. 2014

I was cast as an extra in two episodes of E!’s first scripted drama called The Royals set to air in 2015. Members of the cast include Elizabeth Hurley and Merritt Patterson.

NoFit State Circus, Open House. 2014

I was invited as a guest performer to be a part of their work Open House. I performed on two aerial apparatus; Aerial Silks and Aerial Hoop.

A project to investigate notions of body in space, mis-communication and mis-interaction, how personal space and personal moments
are highly valued, where physical communication is undervalued and blatantly ignored.

Exsportise Ltd. 2011-2014

I have moved between roles as Dance Coach and Head Dance Coach delivering two, three hour dance sessions daily incorporating fitness, technique, choreographic tasks and a dance work to perform in the weekly dance show. The summer camp is for International students aged 10-16 staying for any time from one week to seven.

Charlotte Clarke, (135246). 2013

For my dissertation I created a 20 minute choreographic work on four dance students from various stages in their studies (undergraduate and postgraduate). The piece explored the use of hockets usually found in music composition and how they altered choreography. I also focused on the optical flow of the work arranging moments that both complimented and contradicted what was currently in the space.

Playgrounds Dance Company. 2013

I undertook the role of Dance Captain/ Assistant Rehearsal Director in Playgrounds Dance Company 2013.  Responsibilities included holding
rehearsals for the company, polishing and restaging works and teaching material across the dancers. I was also required to deliver workshops to first and second year students. During my time with the company I performed works made by Frauke Requardt, Rosie Kay, Stephanie Schober, Matthew Gough and Jade Askew. We worked through company repertoire as well creating new works throughout the year and performed at venues such as The Core, Corby.

Colette Sadler, R&D. 2012

I was involved in the research and development stages of one of Colette’s new works before she commenced the creation of the work in Berlin later that year. We were required to think about the body as a different form and re-embodying this to create movement.

Playgrounds Dance Company. 2012

I was selected to guest perform with the company in choreographed works by Frauke Requardt and Stephanie Schober. I worked alongside the Artistic Director, Matthew Gough, to blog about the choreographic process of a new work being made on the company by Lorraine Smith of Silversmith Dance Theatre. It was an insightful and valuable opportunity as I was able to watch and analyse the process from a different
point of view that you do not often get to experience when you are in the process of the choreography. The blog posts can be found here:

Yarn and Glue Dance Ensemble, Extant-n . 2011

During a ten day intensive choreographic lab, myself and 10 other dancers worked with Matthew Gough to create a piece Extant-n.  We created movement phrases and entered them into various algorithms to turn out a restructured phrases. We worked with: accumulation, de-accumulation, reversals, hocketing and rolling accumulations.
