Class with Mandy Montanez

Class, Contemporary Dance

Two weeks ago I made a trip to London to take class with Mandy Montanez at Pineapple Dance Studios. The class was contemporary jazz, so the sort of commercial contemporary you see on television. It was really good to get back in the studio and moving like that again, and even better we were dancing to Sam Smith’s cover of Whitney Houston-gorgeous. How could anyone not be happy dancing to that?

There were quite a few of us in the class so performed it in small groups and had lots of room for ourselves. I loved it! At the end of the class I went and thanked Mandy and she said I was a beautiful dancer-always nice to hear! One girl approached me at the end of class and asked for my email address because she loved watching me and had actually filmed me and wanted to send me the footage. Crazy! So I’m hoping I’ll get that through soon.

Needless to say I returned to class yesterday (27th July) for another fix. It’s SUCH a feel good class, just to dance for the sheer joy of dancing and everyone is there for that reason. We danced to a cover of Heaven is a place on Earth, and the routine was an old school lyrical piece, just free and happy 🙂 It also helps that Mandy is super lovely and wants to be there with you, there’s nothing worse than being in the studio with someone who clearly doesn’t want to be there.

Can’t wait for the next class already!
